Education in Switzerland. Les Roches School of Hotel Management

Les Roches is building a sophisticated, international platform for hospitality education in the world, with campuses in Switzerland (Bluche / Crans Montana), China (Shanghai) and Spain (Marbella). Les Roches offers the Swiss Hotel Association ‘Diplôme’, a Bachelor of Business Administration in International Hotel Management, Bachelor of Science (honors) in Food Services Management and a Master in Business Administration through the “Universidad Europea de Madrid” in Spain with a specialization in hotel management, marketing or accounting. The Les Roches Hospitality Management Program (HMP) leads to a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Hospitality Management from Kendall College, Chicago, USA.

Located five minutes away by car from the heart of Crans-Montana, one of Switzerland’s most renowned ski and summer resorts, Bluche sits just below at 1,274 meters above sea level.

You will feel as if you are living in a village rather than a traditional campus setting. The area has a congenial climate and pristine air, long recommended by medical professionals for their contribution to good health. With one small hotel, one restaurant, a hairdresser and a post office, the Les Roches campus is by far the biggest enterprise in the village. Students or parents concerned with safety can rest assured knowing that Bluche is a peaceful and residential place.

A car is not necessary for students coming to Les Roches to study. Switzerland has a fantastic public transportation system, and the walk between classes is short and easy. Buses and a funicular railway service connect Bluche with the resort of Crans-Montana above and the main line railway station in the town of Sierre below.

HOUSING

Students are accommodated in a number of residential buildings in Bluche or nearby. All rooms have ample hanging and storage space, comfortable beds and a place to study. Communal areas where students gather to work on projects, or just to relax, are available in most residences.

At an extra charge, students can be accommodated in the superbly appointed Peter's Farm buildings or in Les Cheminots residence which offer comfortable rooms and apartments with en-suite bathrooms, TV and fridges in addition to other standard facilities.

DINING

Students receive full board at the school throughout their study and it is part of the main fees. They have four dining options to choose from:

• the salle à manger (main dining room) serves all three daily meals and consists of several food stations spread throughout the restaurant proposing various dishes to choose from.
• Our à la carte and fine dining restaurant is open for lunch and dinner and serves a three meal course (appetizer, main course and dessert) to students.
• The informal Café du Village (CDV) is a casual place where students can avail quick served food and snacks.
• The lobby bar proposes cakes and sandwiches.

SPORTS & RECREATIONAL FACILITIES

Students can avail freely all our numerous outdoor and indoor sport facilities:

• Fitness Center
• Gymnasium
• Basket / volleyball courts
• Football Field
• Outdoor Swimming pool

For recreational activities, the CDV has electronic games, a pool table and a Fussball, as well as internet access. The CDV is regularly used for various social activities such as theme dinner parties, quizz nights or is transformed into a discotheque with music and theme parties organized by students.

In addition to on-campus facilities, students have access to plenty of recreational and sport actvities outside the campus reachable within a few minutes drive by car or by public transport.

CLASSROOM & LEARNING FACILITIES

Learning facilities include:

• 30 well equipped classrooms, each with a maximum capacity of 30 seats.
• 2 computer rooms
• 1 demo kitchen
• 1 demo bar
• 1 front office desk
• 1 rooms division demo area including a fully equipped hotel room and bathroom
• 2 auditoriums (of 70 seats each)
• 1 library with study room
• 1 Media Center where faculty and students can research, learn, study, relax and solve problems.

All learning facilities have state-of-the art equipment, including computer projectors, color printing, scanning and copying, audio visual devices. Students can also borrow digital cameras to assist them in making presentations.

Hundreds of Internet connections are available throughout the campus in addition to a network covering students' living quarters.

LIBRARY

Our new extensive library holds 10,000 books and professional magazines and some 2,000 CDs/DVDs. In addition, students also have access to more than 7,000 on-line journals and publications which are very helpful for research during assignments such as case studies or preparation of a dissertation. Our professional librarians offer expertise to ensure the required information is available.
